Care Package Club

Care Package Club

A good friend told me about how she gets together about once a month with a group of moms to put together care packages to send to their daughters while they are away at college.  Thinking what a great idea this was, I invited some friends to do the same thing.  It’s a fun way to keep in touch with friends and send our girls some love in the mail!

There are about 8 of us who have committed to taking turns throughout the academic year to host the monthly event and set the theme for the care packages.  I hosted the first gathering and our theme was, “There’s no place like home” or “home town favorites.”   Our group’s guidelines are simple; each mom purchases 8 of the same item (one for each college girl) and brings them to our monthly meeting.  We assembled 8 flat rate USPS shipping boxes and we put one of our items in each box.  Each college girl gets the same care package shipped to her unless her mom adds a little something extra for her.

We didn’t tell our daughters that we were doing this and we all shipped our packages at the same time.  The girls were surprised and so appreciative to receive their care packages.  We had a blast reporting to one another how excited our daughters were when they received them!

Since I’m aka Sock Lady, the care packages wouldn’t have been complete without a custom printed pair of socks for each girl.  I created a simple word art collage to remind them of HOME and personalized them with each girl’s name.   They are adorable and I just might have to make some for the moms next!

5 Tips for Creating Phenomenal Photo Socks!

1.  Use clear and crisp photos. A blurry photo on paper or on your computer screen will also print that way on socks.  Remember that we’re printing on a soft surface so some variation will apply.

2.  Avoid dark photos and photos with dark shadows.  Some of the best photos we’ve printed on socks are those with contrasting colors.  Here’s a pet photo we printed on some crew socks.  Notice how the dog stands out from the blue ocean background.

3.  Crop your photos to accentuate the image.  Cropping your photos allows you to eliminate things in the background that can distract your eye from the main feature of the image.  Also remember that the print area on our no-show and crew socks is 3.25” x 4”, and 3.25” x 5.5” on our sporty knee highs.

4.  Use Photoshop or other programs to enhance your image.  If you don’t have a program on your computer, try a website like www.picmonkey.com.  You can crop, brighten, and make other edits too.

5.  Be creative!  Once you’ve uploaded your photo using the sockprints design too, you can add a caption, title, border or filter to your photos.  Try different fonts and experiment with assorted features that allow you to make your custom socks one-of-a kind!

You have custom sock questions - Sockprints has answers!

Happy New Year Happy Soles!  We recognize that while we’ve been printing on socks for quite some time now, not everyone has had an opportunity to experience first hand what we do.  So, as we embark on a new year we took some time to look back at some of the most frequently asked questions we received from our customers in 2012 to share with you with the hope to inspire your 2013 custom sock creations!

Can I personalize or add a name to each pair of socks?

Yes, absolutely!  That’s one of the unique features of sockprints.  Our online design tool allows you to create one-of-a-kind socks by the pair.  You can add a name to one pair, a photo on another, or whatever you wish.

We received a request from a customer last month to help create a set of three custom socks for a Christmas gift.  She had found some socks a few years ago with her sister’s name, Sandra, on them and was looking for some new socks for her.  She was happy to hear that we could create new socks for her sister and was even more thrilled when we could personalize and use the name, Sandee, instead of Sandra.  When creating custom socks by the pair, you choose how names are spelled!

Do you only print on white socks?

No, but we have found that white socks provide the best blank canvas to showcase designs.  The white background makes the millions of colors available to use stand out on socks.

Our current product line includes some fun, neon no show socks, but for best results we only recommend using black designs and text for your custom neon socks.  We want you to be happy with your sock creations so we discourage the use of color photos or colored images on our neon socks.

Are your socks only sold in small sets or can you do large orders too?

We love large orders!  We have printed tons of socks for bat mitzvahs, sororities, schools, sports teams and leagues, and large companies.  Retail and wholesale accounts are available.  We also offer special pricing to organizations interested in selling socks for fundraisers.

If you need assistance with your order let us know.  We’re happy to help you with your custom designs like these socks we printed for a high school dance team.  Our customer requested the dance team logo on one sock and each dancer’s name on the other.  Very cute!

Wishing you a very Happy New Year and some happy soles too!

A Camping We Will Go

While brainstorming some design ideas for custom printed socks, one of the first groups we thought of were personalized socks for summer camp!

Summer camps are something almost every kid looks forward to.  The choices are plentiful and it would be hard not to find something of interest for little Ashley or Johnny.  In Canada they actually have a summer camp for video game players!  We discovered a summer culinary camp in San Diego we want to attend!  Wish we had all these choices when we were growing up.

Sockprints custom printed socks are perfect for any summer camp.  You can personalize each pair with the campers name and are oh so cute!  The socks can be printed on the crew length or no show socks - either way at the end of the day, your camper is going to think of you when taking off their socks and go to sleep with a smile on their face.

Here are some other helpful links for summer camps and camp trends we discovered.  We're also including a campers packing list which recommends packing 12 pairs of socks!  A great idea!
