Pet Photo Friday - FOMO Cameron

It’s Pet-Photo-Friday and time to share another pet photo custom printed on our socks!

We are happy to introduce you to Cameron, this week’s furry friend featured on our full-print no-show socks. Cameron has severe FOMO and doesn’t like to miss out on anything. Whether it’s chasing and catching lizards by the beach, planting himself in the middle of the kitchen while the family is cooking, or helping mom work at the computer, Cameron is always in the middle the action (except when he is napping). Appropriately captioned, “Mom’s Little Helper” this pair of photo socks will be a fun gift for Cameron’s owner and will be sure to put a smile on her face.

Pet Photo Friday - Coco

It’s Pet-Photo-Friday and time to share another pet photo custom printed on our socks!

The sockprints team is happy to introduce you to Coco, this week’s favorite custom-printed sock puppy. This pair of photo socks was created as a fun and lighthearted way to remember sweet Coco, who passed away earlier this year at the age of 15. She was a sweet and happy chocolate lab who loved to lounge in the jacuzzi, play ball, and snuggle. Her owner told us “She was a crazy pup, she ate parts of the deck, the one that is in the photo we printed. She also ate a glass thermometer once, which was a fiasco at the vet’s office. She gave the best snuggles and loved whipped cream more than any other treat. She was such a cool puppy and we miss her very much.”

She sounds like one crazy pup and we hope these socks help bring back all the fun memories, and a smile to your face.

Do you want your pet's photo on a pair of socks!? Of course you do, who wouldn’t?!? Design your own personalized socks at sockprints or send us an email at contactus@sockprints.com with your ideas and our sockprints design team will help bring your ideas to life.

5 Tips for Creating Phenomenal Photo Socks!

1.  Use clear and crisp photos. A blurry photo on paper or on your computer screen will also print that way on socks.  Remember that we’re printing on a soft surface so some variation will apply.

2.  Avoid dark photos and photos with dark shadows.  Some of the best photos we’ve printed on socks are those with contrasting colors.  Here’s a pet photo we printed on some crew socks.  Notice how the dog stands out from the blue ocean background.

3.  Crop your photos to accentuate the image.  Cropping your photos allows you to eliminate things in the background that can distract your eye from the main feature of the image.  Also remember that the print area on our no-show and crew socks is 3.25” x 4”, and 3.25” x 5.5” on our sporty knee highs.

4.  Use Photoshop or other programs to enhance your image.  If you don’t have a program on your computer, try a website like www.picmonkey.com.  You can crop, brighten, and make other edits too.

5.  Be creative!  Once you’ve uploaded your photo using the sockprints design too, you can add a caption, title, border or filter to your photos.  Try different fonts and experiment with assorted features that allow you to make your custom socks one-of-a kind!

Prevent Cruelty to Animals

April is Prevention of Cruelty to Animals month and based on the number of pet photos we receive from our customers to print on our socks we know how much love is out there for animals

We love our pets too and some of the first custom socks we printed were of our kitten shortly after he was adopted from a Los Angeles shelter.  My son was the first to spot our cat, Cameron, on my son’s 9th birthday on a visit to the shelter.  When we tried to take him home that day we were told that he wasn’t available for adoption for 3 more days.  We waited for what seemed like ages and went to the shelter first thing Saturday morning and found the same kitten right where we had left him, obviously waiting for us!  But, when we got there we didn’t know that we weren’t the first to arrive that morning.  When we pointed out the kitten we wanted to adopt, we were told by the staff that a woman had already gotten to the shelter a couple minutes before we did and she wanted our cat too.

My heart sank as I watched my son getting choked up at the thought of not bringing home that kitten.  The other woman who went to check out some other cats before making her final decision came back and saw the dilemma unfolding.  We were told that since two people wanted the same kitten that they could hold an auction on the spot and we could bid against each other.  I could not and would not leave that shelter without that kitten!  I felt my own mama claws coming out and I was going to do whatever I had to do to get that cat!  Fortunately for us, this very understanding woman must have seen how my son’s heart was set on our cat and she said we could have him.

I’ll never forget the comments the woman made about how lucky two cats would be to have found loving homes that day.  She was right.  While we were both focused on rescuing that one special kitten, two were saved.

Did you rescue your pet?  If so, share your story and enter our April sockprints giveaway.  Two lucky winners will receive one set of 3 custom printed no-show or crew socks.  Perfect for creating your own pet photo socks!  Enter below by telling us in a sentence or two how you rescued your pet.  Winners will be selected on April 30, 2012 at 10:00pm pst.

While you’re at it, check out organizations like ASPCA and The Humane Society and support Prevention of Cruelty to Animals during the month of April (and always)!

Now that I'm a pet owner...

Animal lovers are known to do some pretty crazy things in the name of love for their pets, and never in a million years would I have believed that I would join the ranks! My 10-year-old son and I rescued a kitten at a local shelter last October and I have to say that I’ve completely fallen in love with our newest, furry, family member. I’ve officially become a proud pet owner and have to confess that while experimenting with some designs on socks, I printed our cat’s picture on a pair of no show socks! I’m still a shy about printing and wearing a “I ♥ Cameron” plus his photo on a t-shirt, but hey can’t a girl have some fun with some custom printed socks? Crazy or not, I love looking down at my feet and seeing Cameron’s photo. I just smile when I see that little guy…
